Coach Calvin is infamous for his Overnight Oats recipe which has been a long running joke due to the fact that he was preparing them incorrectly for a long time, but the fact is that whether you are looking to lose weight, OR Build a massive amount of muscle like Calvin has over the last year that Overnight Oats is a great way to start your day!
What are “Overnight Oats”?:
Overnight Oats is the name for the process of preparing oatmeal in a jar with liquid, oats, berries and whatever else you choose to flavor with and leaving it in the refridgerator overnight where the oats absorb the liquid and softens.
This makes for an easy on-the-go meal that tastes delicious, and meets all of your nutritional needs!
*Here’s the joke*
When originally asked how Calvin prepared his overnight oats, he said that he prepared all of the ingredients (dry) and left them in the cabinet overnight… Only to cook them the traditional way in the morning… Which is not “overnight” oats at all, but just eating oatmeal.
But I digress.
Here’s the recipe:
1. Take 1/2-1 cup of oatmeal and add to a mason jar, or bowl that you can cover
2. Add 1 scoops of your favorite flavored protein powder + 1/2 cup of berries (or any fruit)
3. Add 1/2-3/4 cup of water OR milk
If you’re looking to have a filling breakfast, that’s lighter on calories.. You’ll stop right there and toss it in the fridge to enjoy in the morning.
If you’re like Coach Calvin, and looking to add muscle mass and gain weight then you’ll add 2-4 tablespoons of peanut butter and 1/3 cup of chocolate chips to add a few hundred calories to the mix!
So there you have it… A running joke between our staff that’s lead to a great recipe for our members to enjoy!
